Executive Coaching Testimonials
I sought out a coach when I recognized that there was more potential in my career and position of Executive Director of a mid-sized nonprofit organization than I was achieving. Natalie Hyatt came very highly recommended by a colleague for whom I have the greatest regard. I immediately felt comfortable with Natalie's professional style. We had powerful and pointed conversations about what my goals were and what my time frame was for achieving them, this seamlessly lead to our plan of how we would work together toward the attainment of my goals. Natalie provided supportive reading suggestions and exercises that formed our work together and lead to my deeper understanding of my motivations and areas that I could work on. We developed a specific, time-focused, achievable, realistic road map toward goal attainment. I see Natalie as a life-long career resource.
Natalie Hyatt of Leading Growth helped me navigate one of the most difficult periods of my life after I was laid off from my Executive Producer position at a Chicago Production Company. She guided me out of the deep despair and confusion I faced at a critical crossroads in my career when I felt powerless to move forward on my own. Her coping techniques, and exercises to help me focus on my purpose in life, are what re-awakened my confidence, competitive spirit, and drive so that I was able to attack my job search with vigor and determination. It is because of what Natalie helped me learn about myself that made all the difference."
As a business owner of a company that grew quickly, engaging Natalie as a coach was a valuable investment I made that helped me prioritize and manage various challenging situations with clients as well as my associates. Although we never met in person, we clicked right away through our phone consultations and e-mails. Natalie's recommendations were always wise and practical. She "called it like it is" and held me accountable for steps I needed and wanted to take. Natalie's input has clearly contributed to our success.
Rabbinic Coaching Testimonials I sought out rabbinic coaching for help, primarily, with two issues: (1) time management and (2) working effectively with & within congregational politics and structures. (You know, easy stuff.) Natalie has been a Godsend: endlessly patient, an upbeat and genuine supporter, helping me to appreciate and build on my strengths, introducing me to useful theories and practices for time management and effective leadership. She has helped me to clarify my goals and priorities. Under Natalie's guidance, I've read everything from Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning (which changed my life) to Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy, and have found wisdom and inspiration toward becoming the best rabbi I can be, in a wide variety of places, cast in many different voices.
Natalie takes a dynamic approach to professional problem solving and building success. I never feel stuck with one model or strategy. When circumstances shift, as they always do, so do we. Natalie's coaching is consistently compassionate, intelligent, and nimble.
I sense the value of rabbinic coaching in all aspects of my life, professional and personal.
One example of the value I have gained from working with Natalie is: I had written four of my five sermons for High Holy Days but I was stuck for a fifth. I told Natalie that I wanted to address the issue of a fading sense of happiness and security I sensed my congregants were experiencing in light of the economic crisis gripping the nation and the loss of retirement savings or even jobs. Natalie listened to me and then recommended a wonderful book, "The Beggar King and the Secret of Happiness," by Joel ben Izzy. It was such a wonderful recommendation that I ended up using the book to reframe all my other sermons as well as create my lead sermon, and I ended up with a rich cyberspace, pen-pal relationship with the author. During this same season, I was having a problem dealing with a family member who resented my intervening to try to resolve tension between various family members. Natalie's counseling not only helped me emotionally maneuver through this challenging time, but her insights helped my craft my Kol Nidrei sermon on Forgiveness. My congregants have told me that these were the best sermons I have delivered in my five years at the synagogue. I take off my kippa to Natalie for guiding me and advising me. She brings out the very best in me.
Natalie's services are invaluable to rabbis because she already has so many rabbinic colleagues. The more rabbis she guides, the more knowledgeable she becomes as she can use one rabbi's experiences in one part of the country to help guide another rabbi in a completely different part of the country. Because she is working with so many rabbis, she can begin to see patterns in rabbi-congregant issues, rabbi-board issues, and rabbi-family issues, that we, as isolated rabbis, cannot possibly see. The longer she does this work, and the more rabbis she comes to guide, the more valuable she becomes. She also really likes rabbis and believes in the work we are doing, so she is a real ally and advocate. Her heart is in her work and she really wants us to succeed. Rabbis across the country are blessed to have an advisor and supporter in Natalie. She is a treasure.
I wanted to let you know how much I have appreciated your guidance and wisdom over the past two years. You have inspired me and others. Thank you so much!
Leadership Development & Training Testimonials
On behalf of Temple Judea and myself, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful workshop you led at our annual board retreat. Over the past several years our group has worked hard at becoming a cohesive board that is working toward the same goal and that actually likes each other. however, with the economy in flux, it seemed as if we might be going in different directions. Fortunately, by the end of the day, I believe your ability to take us through the levels of Energy Leadership, to answer our questions, to help us focus, put us all back on the same page, on tract and continuing to move forward. Thank you again,
